The goal of our Literacy Program is to develop students' ability to compose and comprehend spoken and written English - fluently, appropriately and effectively - for a wide range of vocational and social purposes.
In using Literacy for these purposes students will speak, listen, read, view and write and use the associated non-verbal, visual and auditory language.
The Literacy Program enables us to provide opportunities for students in using a wide range of literary and non-literary genres and social contexts across all subject areas.
The program will progressively develop and refine underlying attitudes, thinking processes, skills and knowledge within the context of language in use.
The Bardon Human Relationships Education program is designed to foster respect, empathy, motivation and resilience of our students towards themselves and others.

Children in Years 5 to 7 participate in Japanese lessons (1.5 hours per week) as part of Education Queensland's LOTE program. A specialist language teacher is employed to teach Japanese.
In 2003 and 2005 a group of students from Years 6 and 7 visited schools in Japan and this is planned to be a biennial event.
Each year we host students from various Japanese schools. Such programs enable our students to enhance their language skills and cultural understanding.
In 2006 Bardon introduced the new Maths Syllabus which has a focus on thinking, reasoning and working mathematically. The program aims to:
