Student leadership

PublishingPageContent

Our students are engaged in a range of leadership opportunities. We have our badge leadership positions—School Captains and Vice Captains, Student Representative Council (SRC), Sport Captains, Music Captains and Tech Crew. We consider that all of our 6/5 Seniors hold a special leadership role in our school.

Our Captains and Tech crew are responsible for organising and running assembly. The school captains and student council executive represent our school at the annual Deputy Principal’s Leadership Camp, the State Leader’s Conference, at Government House and on many special assemblies and events in our school.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

The SRC has an Executive Membership (6/5) and Representatives from all other classes from Year 3 to Year 6. Their role is to organise the community fundraising focus each term, assist with a range of events and often assist the school leadership team with key endeavours.

Sporting houses

Each student is placed in one of our three sporting houses:

  • Ruby: Red
  • Emerald: Green
  • Topaz: Yellow.

Each year we hold a whole school cross country, athletics carnival and swimming carnival. Our focus is to build confidence to ‘have a go’ and enjoyment in sport in these early years.

In 2016 we held a very successful Olymp-a-thon and in 2018 a Games-a-thon for our Junior Years and will be exploring this option for future junior carnivals.

Buddies

Our Seniors and Preps ‘Buddy Up’ for a range of events during the year. They meet several times a term to work together on classroom activities and foster relationships throughout the school. They are integral to the running of our Under 8’s day each year, they assist with Buddy reading, and they are great supports at all of our sporting carnivals.

Our seniors enjoy the buddy program as much as our newest school members and we value the responsibility and respectful relationships it fosters.
